The Department of Information Studies was established in 2001 and was then called the information department, as a real response to the developments and changes that characterized the labor market in Libya during that period, and during the past years, as a result of changes in the information environment, it was necessary to develop the skills and competencies required for an information specialist through the development of academic programs. Therefore, the interest of the “Department of Information Studies” is based on the fact that information is a wealth and a profitable project, and that it is a basic pillar of development at the individual and community levels. Informatics from a structural point of view is a triangle, the first of which is software, the second is Hardware, and the third is content. The latter is the focus of the Department of information studies because the department is related to information content: production, registration, publication, compilation, organization, Documentation, retrieval and investment, as evidenced by the vision, mission and objectives of the department and the divisions that fall from it.
